Product Review | KUI For Natural Hair

Ever since i joined the natural hair gang it’s been one struggle to the other but not until I decided to get my hands on some natural haircare products. I was working on a budget so I wanted to get something that’s not too expensive and I settled for Wenaturals but when my products arrived, i saw items from KUI. I felt really disappointed but then, i went online in search of reviews on the KUI product range but couldn’t find any. I finally accepted my fate.

First impression : I really didn’t attach much to this product when i saw it because it wasn’t what I wanted/requested.

Packaging : The packaging made me appreciate the product; simple and attractive.

Quantity : The KUI range includes a hair shampoo, moisturizing conditioner, a moisturizing hair cream and a leave-in conditioning hair mist which are the basic things you’ll need as a naturalista.

Key ingredients : Tea tree and cinnamon.

Moisturizing Shampoo : This is in a 500ml bottle.

How i Use it : I wash my hair once in 2/3 weeks depending on how dirty my hair gets. I usually section my hair into three or four parts,  apply the shampoo and wash in sections thoroughly. What I don’t like about this shampoo is the dryness it causes to my hair. All the times i used it, it always made my hair feel dry and i can’t say if its from my hair or the shampoo until i try a shampoo from another brand.

Rating : 2/5

Moisturizing Conditioner : I almost did not notice any difference in my hair after using the conditioner until after three times of using it, which wasn’t encouraging. The conditioner is in a 500ml bottle just as the shampoo with just a difference in the colour of the cap.

How i use it : After washing with the shampoo, i still leave my hair in sections and apply the conditioner, leave for 20mins or more and then i wash it off.

Rating : 3/5

Moisturizing Hair Cream : I love this hair cream. First, because it does what it says, “moisturize” and secondly because it is non greasy (it feels like a body lotion on the palm). I recently bought castor oil so what i did was pour some of it inside this cream and apply on my hair daily or after washing/conditioning. It leaves my hair soft, moisturized and smelling great, which my hairdresser has attest to.

Rating : 4/5

Leave in Conditioning Hair Mist : I call this “holy grail” it is one of my best products from the KUI range and it works magic. I spray it on my hair almost everyday because of how soft it makes my hair feel.

Price : It cost 5000 naira for the kit which i think is fair for the quality.

Final Impression : I think the manufacturers of this product should do something about the shampoo. I’ll love to buy again, especially now that my conditioner is almost finished but I’m thinking of trying products from other brands and see how my hair reacts to them, basically to experiment. I’ll keep you updated on how it goes.

What is your hair routine like? Have you tried this product? If you have, what is your take on it?

  1. First your hair is simply something to be envious of. I’m surely going to look for this product and try majorly because it’s budget friendly.
